One Engine. Stronger Than the V6 It Replaced.

The 2026 Traverse uses a single 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder across all four trims — the same engine in the base LT and the top-spec RS. Producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, it out-powers the previous-generation Traverse's 3.6L V6 (310 hp) while improving efficiency. There is no V6 option for 2026, and it turns out the 4-cylinder does not need one. The 8-speed automatic and standard trailering equipment mean the Traverse is rated for 5,000 lbs towing right out of the box on every trim, and the AWD system on the Z71 uses a Twin-Clutch design that actively distributes torque between the rear wheels — not just a passive system.
