If you call Blacklick home, then you know the value of having an economical vehicle, especially if you have to make daily commutes for work or school. With gasoline prices constantly fluctuating, it can be difficult to set a monthly expense budget. If you are like many Blacklick commuters, you probably find there are months that money is tight because gas prices went up. This is why an increasing number of drivers here have made the move to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).

These models will take away the need to stop at a local service station unless you want a cup of coffee or a pack of chewing gum. As the name implies, these models run solely on electricity supplied by a battery pack. Two of the sportiest are the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV and the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S. These are midsize SUVs that are pure BEVs. Both also have standard comfort and convenience features, which make them more enjoyable to drive. They also come equipped for 2024 with all of the latest technology. If you are considering a Chevy Blazer EV for sale near Blacklick, Dave Gill Chevrolet is the place to go. Pricing

The first thing you are sure to notice about these two models is the significant pricing differential. The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S costs a great deal more than the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV. In fact, the Wagoneer S has a base MSRP of $70,795. This is more than $20,000 more than the MSRP of the Blazer EV, which starts at $48,800.[a] In fact, if you opt for the top RS trim of the Blazer EV, the MSRP of $54,295 still falls way below that of even the base trim of the Wagoneer S.[a]

Trim Options

Chevy offers the 2024 Blazer EV with a pair of trims. The LT is the base model, and it comes standard with an 85 kWh battery dual motor. This gives you electronic all-wheel drive for greater traction. The top trim RS is built for speed, giving you the option of the same dual motor, all-wheel drive configuration as the LT, or a 102 kWh battery single motor with rear-wheel drive. Opting for the latter will give you sportier design features inside and out as well as more enhanced features.

In contrast, the Wagoneer S comes with one standard trim level. This is the Launch Edition, with a dual motor, all-wheel drive powertrain system. As such, you don't have many options when choosing the 2024 Wagoneer S like you do when you decide on a 2024 Chevy Blazer EV.

Powertrains

Just as Chevy offers the Blazer EV with two different trim levels, you also get the choice of two different powertrains. The base powertrain features a dual motor configuration with a permanent-magnet synchronous AC motor powering the front axle and an induction AC motor in the rear axle. This runs on a liquid-cooled, 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Like all Ultium powertrains, this safely stores the battery pack in the vehicle's lower frame to shield it from damage and to take up less space inside the passenger compartment. The combined motors have an output of 288 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque. This will give you a range of up to 283 miles on a fully charged battery. The Blazer EV with the dual motor powertrain is rated to tow up to 1,500 pounds.

You can also opt for a single-motor powertrain on the RS trim of the 2024 Blazer EV. This is a single electric motor in the rear axle, which is powered by a liquid-cooled, 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack located in the Blazer EV's lower frame. This will give you improved performance over the dual motor powertrain, with an output of 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The single-motor Blazer RS also has 324 miles of range, the most of either model. This will reduce the number of times you need to charge your vehicle at home or on the road at a public DC fast charging station. This powertrain also boosts the trailering capability to an impressive 3,500 pounds, which will come in handy if you plan on hitching your bicycles for an afternoon at the park.

The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S only offers one standard powertrain. This is a dual-motor design. These motors come powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery located in the vehicle's lower frame. This gives the Wagoneer S more than 300 miles of range on a full charge. The motors on the Wagoneer S are more powerful than those on the Blazer EV, giving an output of 600 hp and 617 lb-ft of torque. However, this comes at the expense of both range and towing, as the Wagoneer S tops out at 3,400 pounds, less than the Blazer EV RS with the single-motor design.

Charging

Keeping your vehicle charged is always a concern when driving a BEV. Fortunately, both Chevy and Jeep have taken this into consideration with their respective models. The Blazer EV comes with 11.5 kW level 2 charging capabilities. This will allow you to charge your Blazer EV's battery at home or at a public charging station. With Level 3 DC public fast-charging, you should be able to charge up to 78 miles of range on the Blazer EV in just 10 minutes time. Similarly, the 2024 Wagoneer S has a level 2 home charger but can use DC public fast charging. With this, it is estimated to charge 20% to 80% in about 23 minutes.

Both models also feature single pedal driving, so you can reduce driver fatigue on highways since the accelerator will act as a brake as well when in this mode. You also recharge the battery through brake recapture. This takes a portion of the kinetic energy released each time you engage the vehicle's brakes, recycling this to give a slight boost to the battery pack.

Infotainment systems

As you would expect on premium models such as these, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV and the Jeep Wagoneer S come with advanced infotainment systems. The one in the Blazer EV is larger, measuring an astounding 17.7-inches. This advanced color LCD display features Google built-in compatibility, allowing you to have your virtual assistant with you on your ride, even if you are riding alone to work in the morning. You can link your phones to the system using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can stay connected even if you leave your phone cables at home. This will allow you to make hands-free calls and texts. A wireless phone charging pad comes standard on the RS and is an available feature on the LT trim. You and your passengers can also stay connected with 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability. For Blacklick family drivers, this will help the kids stay entertained on daily drives and longer trips alike.

The Wagoneer S also comes with an advanced infotainment system that features comparable features to the Blazer EV. However, the Uconnect system's touchscreen on the Wagoneer S is smaller, at 12.3 inches in size. Jeep does have an interactive display screen for the front passenger, which has HDMI connectivity, something that is exclusive to the Wagoneer S. It also offers a more advanced audio system than the Blazer EV. This is a 19-speaker McIntosh Entertainment System with a 24-channel amplifier. The Blazer EV dual motor models feature a 6-speaker audio system, with an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system available on the Blazer EV RS single motor model.
