The Blazer nameplate has graced many Chevy vehicles over the decades, from the original K5 Blazer full-size SUV to the S-10 Blazer compact SUV. Now, it belongs to a midsize crossover that is lighting up the charts like a viral song. The Chevy Blazer already made a splash when it was introduced. Then the Chevy Blazer EV came along and set things afire, winning the 2024 MotorTrend SUV of the Year Award.
Can the 2025 Chevy Blazer possibly live up to its predecessors, never mind surpass them? We're big fans of the Blazer here at Dave Gill Chevrolet, and after seeing the 2025 edition for ourselves, we're even more excited about seeing it on Central Ohio roads. If you're looking for an adept crossover, you should be, too. Let's look together at the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer and why it should be on your SUV shortlist.
Gas or EV: The Right Powertrain for any Pilot
Whether you want efficiency, a burst of power, or the latest EV performance, the 2025 Chevy Blazer can do it all. It comes with a choice of five different powertrains for any driving you do. The baseline gas engine option is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant generating 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty for cruising around downtown or going for a long weekend ride. It gets an estimated 29 MPG on the highway, so you can go a ways between fill-ups.
Do you want some extra internal combustion power? A 3.6L V6 engine sits in the Blazer RS and is available on the other trims. This jets things up to 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque for when you want to feel some pep. Each engine has a nine-speed automatic transmission to keep you in the optimal RPM band and is offered with FWD or AWD; FWD gives you the best fuel economy, while AWD offers the most grip in rain and snow.
Then there's the all-electric Blazer EV-the most powerful of the bunch. Its main trims are available with either a dual-motor AWD powertrain emitting 300 hp and 355 lb-ft of torque or a single-motor RWD setup giving you 365 hp and 325 lb-ft. Want even more? The all-new Chevy Blazer EV SS revs up to 595 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque-numbers that rival the Corvette E-Ray! The Blazer EV has an estimated range of 334 miles and can add up to 80 miles in 10 minutes using a Level 3 fast charger. This powertrain selection means any Blazer owner can have the exact feel they want under their right foot.
Athletic Driving and Style
For decades, SUVs were all brawn and no finesse. The crossover has changed the game, though-and the 2025 Blazer is running up the score. Getting behind the wheel of the Blazer is unlike any sport utility driving experience you've ever had. Its dynamics have even been compared to the now dearly departed Chevy Camaro.
How can a crossover SUV drive like a famous pony car? Chevy pulls it off with a fully independent suspension precision-tuned for great performance. It's a standard feature on all Blazer models. Every Blazer also comes with Chevy's StabiliTrak electronic stability and traction control technology, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, and selectable drive modes for everything from towing to off-roading.
This sporty heartbeat is matched by the striking exterior. The Blazer has an athletic stance and body lines to turn heads as you approach. Each trim has unique characteristics, such as the black accents on the RS, the chrome and silver accents on the Premier, and unique wheel spoke patterns. Speaking of wheels, the lower trims have 18-inch aluminum wheels, while the higher trims have statement-making 20-inch wheels with the option to get 21-inch wheels in various finishes. It's a vehicle made to stand out even among the bustle of the American Heartland.
A Midsize Crossover With Supersized Tech
Chevrolet believes technology is your friend on the road, whether it's for navigation, entertainment, or safety. The 2025 Chevy Blazer continues to deliver the goods with some of the best tech in the midsize segment. All gasoline-powered Blazer models come with a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen that is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio (the Blazer EV comes with an even larger 17.7-inch display and Google built-in). You also get heated front seats, active road noise cancellation, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a digital compass across the full range. Available add-ons include wireless device charging, up to six USB ports, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system for a next-level drive.
As for security behind the wheel, the Chevy Safety Assist package is standard on all 2025 Blazers and comes with the following:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Alert
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Following Distance Indicator
- IntelliBeam automatic high beam headlights
Automatic LED headlights and daytime running lamps, a high-definition rearview camera, Teen Driver mode, and OnStar Basics are among the other safety tools every Blazer has straight from the factory. Various optional packages and individual upgrades are available to give you even more driver assistance features, such as Rear Park Assist and HD Surround Vision.
